In-person camera training designed for the

total beginner

If you are local to South Wales, why not join me for training in-person?

You don't need any experience or prior knowledge for these sessions. We will typically spend about 3-4 hours learning how to really understand how your camera works and help you build the confidence to start creating images you love.

Group sessions are run throughout the year and private 1:1 sessions are also available which can be tailored to suit your learning requirements.

Sessions take place in the beautiful setting of Plas Llanmihangel in the Vale of Glamorgan (CF71 7LQ).

Get Camera Confident

Get Camera Confident is my flagship course. It's the start of your photography journey.

Get Camera Confident will teach you all the fundamentals of how your camera works. It will give you the skills and confidence you need to really understand the camera settings that have left you baffled and confused in the past.

By the end of the training, you'll have the confidence to shoot in full manual mode, start taking control of your camera and begin taking the images you've always dreamt of.

I'll show you the methods used by professional photographers such as creating a beautiful background blur on portraits to nailing beautiful landscape images.

We'll cover making sure your images are in focus, even if your subject is moving through to the best lenses to use for different types of photography.

You'll even get handy downloadable guides which you can either save to your mobile device or print out to pop in your camera bag when you are on the go.

Learn something new;

somewhere magical

My 1:1 and group training sessions take place somewhere really very unique and magical.

Nestled deep in the Vale of Glamorgan’s rolling countryside , this grade 1 listed fairy tale castellated Manor House is thought to be one of the oldest homes in Wales.

Plas Llanmihangel (pronounced LLan-mih-han-gul) is a hidden jewel.

It is rich with historical features including a watch tower, original barricaded door, priest holes, and an old dungeon entrance.

It is a labyrinth of corridors, secret passages and historical treasures. Complete with a full suit of armour, four poster beds, enormous hearths and a medieval wood panelled Great Hall, it has been lovingly restored to its former glory.

What you'll learn

Find out what all of those buttons, pictures, dials and settings actually mean.

I'll explain how your camera records and manages light to create an image.

We'll look how ISO, aperture and shutter speed work together to create balanced exposure.

Ever wondered how photographers get that lovely blurry background in their images? I'll show you how.

We'll do lots of practical exercises to make sure you fully understand each section before moving on.

Frustrated by out of focus images? You'll learn how to get sharp photos every time.

I'll teach you how different lenses can transform your images, giving them a totally different look and feel.

By the end of the training you'll be shooting in full manual mode, taking full control over your photography.
